Welcome to Grey Thumb!
Grey Thumb began in the Boston/Cambridge area as an information group of scientists, engineers, and hobbyists with a strong interest in the emerging fields of evolutionary computation and artificial life. Since then, we have expanded to include a number of other chapters in other locations around the world.
We are an informal group that meets generally once a month to share projects, listen to presentations, and meet others with similar interests. We are open to all regardless of background or level of interest, and our meetings are routinely attended by everyone from academic scientists to artists and casual hobbyists.
Our model and inspiration was the famous Homebrew Computer Club in Silicon Valley that helped give birth to the microcomputer revolution. We hope that we can, in a similar way, help to give birth to the evolutionary technology revolution in years to come.
