Our fears might one day come true and we might be an open book for everyone willing to interfere in our personal information through complicated data management tools. And this is on the road to happening afer the UK government is about to discuss a highly controversial project of legislation aimed as monitoring online users and their personal information more closely than ever before. The project is claimed to be of use for the protection of the public against fraud, terrorism and other associated criminal activity. However, doubts as to its legitimacy continue to exist.

Point number one in the discussion is what the political opinion is. As emphasized above, the majority of political specialists disagree with state intervention in online privacy. This excludes police investigation on potential targets and defends the middle person whose online life needs to be safeguarded. Despite the fact that a growing majority agrees on state intervention, especially after the terrorist murders in France in 2012, the idea is far from being well accepted in the society. It is worth mentioning that it is not a completely rejected idea and some agree with it partially, demanding less interference on ordinary people and more attention on problematic areas such as online fraud and security breaches.

Monitoring the online mass is necessary should we demand higher security standards

A US sociologists and public opinion researcher Mark Avery defends the idea that monitoring the online life of people is necessary to achieve justice and obtain evidence for better public protection. This is the objective claimed by the UK government proposing the legislation. However, one may wonder what would be implications when a clash between human rights and security objectives occurs. The project is yet to be seen grow but another threat is already arising – truly, the project will include large expenses and exposure to economic difficulties in justifying online mass monitoring. The project might not be achieved at all without the financial assistance of private online services providers.

My weekends are normally spent dealing with red diesel suppliers and reading news. You may wonder why Red diesel suppliers, well that’s because we have recently moved into a new neighbourhood and are still looking for a reliable source for red diesel. On the other hand reading news has always been my favourite time pass, needless to say my wife hates it. Here’s the gist of the story that I have been following for quite some time.

While the world’s focus is on Afghanistan and America’s role on the military front, the Taliban seems to have pulled a fast one yet again in spite of the advanced technology the US has at its disposal. They have yet again slipped across the porous border where no foreigner can have a say. Having got across the border into Pakistan, they seem to merge with the general population in such a manner as to become indistinguishable to an outsider.

Having turned against anyone who so much as lifts a finger against them, they work with impunity gaining inside information and help from sympathisers found in every wake of life. Their ‘eye for an eye'retort to the killing of their comrades with the kidnapping and subsequent cold blooded execution of over 20 Pakistani policemen recently throws credence to the fact that they are a law unto themselves. And Pakistan may well have to pay a price for being their friend or for that matter, their supposed foe.

Their burgeoning growth and clout stems from the fact that, though they may lack sophisticated methods, they have sympathisers on their side that would, without a moment’s hesitation, do their bidding. This probably goes a long way in providing them with safe houses, passage, money and reports of everything that happens in the region. To get out of the grasp of surveillances methods, they use word of mouth to pass messages leaving no path for tracking. The west, on the other hand, has managed to alienate itself from the people in the region. It has unwittingly earned a reputation for itself as one that always works with a vested interest. This is why the local population, while greedily taking in all that the West has to offer, subtly betrays it when it comes to emotions and leanings.

The UK is facing a third recession in its modern financial history and after the collapse of the Barings Group in the 1980s. The consumer confidence levels currently trending the market have never been lower except for 2008 and 1990 – the most significant and powerful financial recessions in the UK and the world as general. Considering this fact, economists believe that the country is on the edge of experiencing another financial collapse and economic overburdening.

The main indicator for an upcoming crisis is the purchasing power of consumers. Less and less people would choose well established and highly quality services such as a perfect Apple Mac repair for example. Rather, they are looking for cheap products and almost no well established service providers. In the services sector, the demand for standard services such as phone network on a monthly contract, has reduced significantly with people seeking to get not the most suitable but the cheapest service.

But there appear to be another problem. Apart from limiting themselves as it comes to retail and service product packages, consumers would also prefer not to enter specific estate contracts, long leasehold agreements, mortgages and larger loans. The reason is simple – people feel insecure about the financial situation in the country and would aim and avoid putting too much of monetary burden over their shoulders when their jobs and opportunities are constantly shrinking.

By exercising reduced purchasing power and demanding less from the market, the consumers do not feel how they are the moving engine of the upcoming recession. However, it is the state and the regulators that need to consider the state of economic development in the UK and find the way of improving the general good of the public. We have seen many acts of ’good reason'by PM Cameron, and it is time to see some real action in times when the people in the UK need serious economic support from their government.

The biggest news this summer may have been all about the riots in the UK and liberation of Libya from Colonel Gaddafi, but one of the hottest news stories has been about health care. In particular the proposed changes to the NHS in Britain have been hitting the headlines more so them anything else in the past few months. These changes form part of the new health care bill proposed by the coalition government which is making its way through the legislative jungle right now.

What are the proposed changes?

There has been a rise in the care home jobs that have become available along with the number of social care jobs advertised. On the surface this appears to be good news for anyone looking for work in these sectors. Both the medical and social sectors are in need of qualified professionals to fill in the gaps that are increasing in both markets. Doctors and nurses have never been in higher demand but concerns remain throughout the industry. The changes that are being proposed to the NHS would allow private companies to take over some of the services that are provided by the public organisation currently. Naturally this has provoked a lot of reaction in both political and medical circles and has led many medical practitioners to denounce the coalition government for even tabling the changes in parliament.

The opposition have seen these changes as another opportunity to attack a government already under severe pressure from the public and private sectors. Facts are facts however according to David Cameron. The public purse is empty thanks to the administrative errors of the last Labour government. Savings need to be made and the public finances of the UK need to be put in order. This means that even services like the NHS which the Conservatives swore to ring fence before the election are under financial scrutiny. The alternative to not allowing private companies to take over some of the services was to let the NHS decay and die according to David Cameron. Yet many GPs would not agree.

As local budgets are now being placed under direct control of the GPs responsible for treating patients, many doctors are concerned this will force them to place financial concerns ahead of medical care. The reasoning behind this is simple. By being budget holders GPs will now have to think about how much money they can spend on their patients. Questions like ‘do I need to spend money on flu vaccine sooner rather then later?'begin to arise. Doctors are also concerned that they will be forced to delay referrals and treatments to save money or prevent overspending.

These are valid concerns yet the legislation has been pushed through and GPs and medical staff across the entire industry will have to see how they adapt to these changes. Overall there is widespread agreement amongst medical and political circles that by allowing private companies into the NHS, we will be removing the first foundation stone of an organisation that was created to serve the public interest.

It has been now official that the biggest economy in the world, interconnected with most of the developed and developing world, is now classed as an investment destination less attractive than… Monaco. This is a precedent in the modern financial history but it is also a problem – another financial crisis is coming, markets collapsed and the Brits – we are about to experience out greatest recession problems since 2008.

After the enacted cuts by the UK government even the important NHS nursing jobs seem shaky – too many people have been affected by the reduced budgets. But the collapse in the markets might lead to the same problem this time associated with private businesses. But what led to this financial destruction is a bunch of well dressed, well paid suits who work in the US Parliament and who struggle for political power while the financial situation in Europe is worsening.

Truly, the EU tried its best to tackle the financial issues by actions from its bank. It is like a huge machine trying to produce more power than it is capable of – the bank offered money that it cannot deliver in the short term and exposed itself to a wider risk. Thus the suits in the US parliament were saved by Europe and the people that we call the saviors of the world were actually waiting for a few dimes-coffee in their break. To be honest, hardly is there a more repulsive political elite than the one currently dealing with the US financial situation – we can all experience that just in a few days when the markets would collapse again and our EU and UK dimension of the financial world would go down with them.

So good job, my dear well-dressed US politicians – you have been bringing bad news over mankind for more than a decade now and you do not seem to be willing to stop. But why should you – you still have the big houses in Malibu and Hampton so all that is left for us is live on an increasing interest rates over our mortgages.

In Europe Greece is an example of how debt problems might ruin the economy of a state. Now, after the Greek recession is still unsolved and the problems of the country are deepened, more Euro countries are facing severe difficulties with inability to cope with their international financial obligations. The first after Greece are the Spanish and the Portuguese and, surprisingly, Italy.

The Spanish economy keeps shrinking. The country rejected international help to cover some of its obligations – this can mean only more debt. However, billions of debt to be paid this year might be postponed after the country could not effectively cope with the international demands in the economic climate. The state’s economy keeps decreasing and the interest of the debt over Spain is increasing,

Portugal, famous for its shop fitting display services and colorful culture, is actually suffering even more, even though the state used international support in billions to fuel the economy. Nevertheless, nothing seems to have troubled the international debt – reaching far beyond the psychological barrier of 500 billion Euro, the obligations and the financial difficulties int he country are currently overtaking any hope of recovery.

Italy was aiming to recover from the recession free of pressing debt. However, bankers in the boot seem to disagree and warn governmental bodies that it is not a bright future ahead of the country. The deficit and the debt collection of the Italians cannot be met by the current banking system and the financial income of the country after taxation of the common income. The public cuts and the economic changes seem to have brought no result.

‘Super Injunction'fever has hit Britain and the latest celebrity to be caught in the middle of it technically can’t be mentioned because despite the injunction being broken in parliament, the high court has upheld it. The person in question is a well known footballer and it is alleged he had an ‘away game'with an ex-Big Brother contestant – Imogen Thomas who will probably bank on the notoriety the case has given her and end up on a designer homeware show as a presenter.

What makes this whole saga interesting is that the MP who ‘revealed'the identity of the footballer in parliament did so using an act of ‘Parliamentary Privilege’. John Hemming is a Lib Dem MP and has denied that he abused his right of privilege by identifying the footballer. A lot of questions are now being asked about whether or not this obscure right should be reviewed by the courts as if MPs can flout laws with impunity then it undermines the whole system of law and order. The story itself is tabloid worthy, but hardly in the public interest for the footballer to be revealed.

That said the incident has forced David Cameron to admit that power to grant super injunctions to protect privacy should be reviewed. This stems from the fact that it is difficult to enforce an injunction that has been effectively broken by over 70,000 people in the UK. The wider implication is that parliament has shown the British public that it is okay to break the law by elevating itself above the very laws it creates to govern the country.

The results from the local elections are in, Liberal Democrats have lost 295 councillors, Labour has gained 339 and what is a surprising bit of information; the Conservative Party has gained 37 councillors. The Liberal Democrats were punished the hardest for the current government, because unlike David Cameron who the Conservative voters knew what to expect, Nick Clegg basically did a massive u-turn on fundamental party policies. The Conservatives are delighted that they have made it into a government, with a minority of the MPs and are able to fundamentally shift policies without a popular mandate. The Liberal Democrats on the other hand, were lied to by their leader and the people are asking what are the benefits of supporting this government when their core aims are not being recognized. If you watch the interviews with William Hague, you see somebody gloating. While the government is cutting services, forging ahead with NHS changes which are unwanted and they don’t see this as Paternity Testing for unwanted policy but as a victory for their views.
The results for the Alternate Vote referendum won’t even begin to be counted until this afternoon, but early polls indicate that there is not going to be a popular mandate for voting reform. This will be largely due to the vociferous ’no'campaign which is a ’e tu brutus'stab in the back from David Cameron to Nick Clegg. The only explanation that I can come up with is that Nick Clegg is actually a mole for the conservative party.

With the UN fighting problems in Libya and Japan, an attack in Afghanistan has added to the list of tragedies already accumulated in the past few months.

A UN compound in the Afghan city of Mazar-eSharif came under attack after a protest turned violent. What started out originally as a peaceful protest against the burning of a Koran in a US church last month, suddenly changed wind when a number of protesters decided to vent their anger against the UN.

Eight UN workers and at least four other people were killed in the attack. The police have assured foreign media that everything is back under control but a feeling of simmering unrest remains throughout the city. The UN is reeling from the attacks and its officials are trying to determine all the facts and look after the remaining staff. However police and UN officials believe that the death toll could rise following their investigations, which leads people to believe that the situation was so chaotic that no one really knows exactly what happened.

It seems that a crowd originally gathered outside the Blue Mosque within the city after prayers last Friday then marched towards the UN compound where the violence erupted. The attacks have been branded ‘cowardly’ by virtually every official source from Afghanistan and the UN and a concerted effort is being made to try and identify any ringleaders who may have incited the violence in the protest. Many workers have been trying to get cheap flights home but the UN is adamant that they are in control of the situation.

A general feeling of increased unease has swept through the UN in Afghanistan and throughout the world. To many it seems like the UN are fighting their own separate wars to try and bring some measure of peace and stability to a number of regions in desperate need of both.

The protests in Bahrain continue with full force after the police and the protesters were engaged in new clashes on March 11. Firing power was used by the police and also tear gas to dispense the crowds. However, the pressure continue to mount as the Bahraini people demand democratic rule and change in the government.
The unrest in the Middle East was largely provoked by the search of democracy among the Arab states. Bahrain entered the protests inspired by its Shia population – they have accused the executive of discrimination and undue and unreasonable treatment. The country’s majority of the population are Sunny Muslims who had no protesting plans against the government. However, inspired by the Shia population and after a documentary by the BBC, they have entered as activists against the regime in the financial capital in the Middle East.
Bahrain used to be the peaceful paradise in the Arab world and people were satisfied with their rulers. Demand for goods stretched from jewelery and ostelli Londra to automobile industry products. However, the unrest occurred and the rulers need to take a more progressive steps if they want to avoid further negative occurrences. The police has already used tear gas and the problems have escalated when several police squads were attacked by protesters. The opposition fears that the violence might provoke more serious consequences. Medical bodies urge the government authorities to seize fire as hundreds of people are filling in the hospitals.
Bahrain remains in a process of unrest. Government bodies have announced they have no plans to step down and protests are anticipated in the upcoming weeks.
